I am deep into the third draft of the flagship young adult epic fantasy first novel, laying the groundwork for a trilogy of books with the following working titles and progress:
Draft 3 Completion — The Girl In The Tree
Target completion date: October 31, 2026. This is the current phase. Once draft 3 is complete the conversation becomes we, as I will take book one through the following quality control steps with long-time fantasy readers and top genre professionals to begin and complete draft 4.
Circle Read
This will be the first among three quality control steps and first sharing of the complete work. These are among my closest circle of friends, and all long-time readers of epic fantasy. During this phase joy (yes, it’s true), structural soundness, logical consistency, and the pacing of worldbuilding reveals will be evaluated to catch blind spots before any outside party views the work.
Specialized Critique Partner Feedback
The manuscript is evaluated by trusted developmental peers who test internal logic, character arcs, and narrative tension.
Professional Beta Reader Review
A select cohort of targeted genre readers will stresstest the reading experience for emotional engagement, market appeal, and immersive momentum.
Draft 4 Completion
Target completion date: March 31, 2027.
Representation — And The Path To Publishing
Following the completion of the polished fourth draft, the project will be pitched to premier literary and talent agencies to secure representation. From there, meetings with top-tier fantasy editors will target long-term partnership tracks. Once a professional editorial pass yields a final fifth draft, the book will be formally presented to major publishers, with a strategic eye on international translation, audiobook production and feature film adaptation.
